More information
The Master Database I’ve been working on it on and off for a few
years now. As a result of merging plant lists from a number of Ideas Genie users in the UK, USA, Belgium, Australia and other countries, it has grown to the proportion of over 36,000 plants with over
2,000 quality disc photos and links to 1148 web photos.
You will be able to browse the Master Database on DVD, and import plants that take your fancy into your Ideas Genie or Ideas Genie Pro
database on your hard disk. The idea is that you dont clutter up your own database with thousands of plants not suitable for your region.
Note: You can also browse the Master database with Flower Genie, AND import plants into your own database.
THE FOUR SAMPLE DATABASES
The Flash Drive also includes FOUR ready made Ideas Genie databases for you to browse. They are examples of what YOU can achieve using Ideas Genie:
Database 1
. A small sample database of Plant Names and Quality photos of a TV Alpine Garden in Ireland.
I took the photos one day after a visit to the garden by an Irish TV crew. It was looking just perfect! The owner is a prominent member of The Alpine Garden Society and an international Garden Club
Lecturer, Mr Harold McBride, Lisburn, N Ireland
You can see a few photos from the database here.
Photos on the internet are low resolution. The photos on this CD are high quality
You are SURE to find at LEAST one plant to add to your own garden (in your Ideas Genie database).
On the database you’ll find the names of the significant plants “lassoed” in the photos .
Database 2 Philip Goodwins plant list (484 plants).
Philip is from Kent, in the South East of England. I have Peter to thank for the Ideas Genie User Guide. You’ll find it on the Ideas Genie distribution disk.
I converted this database for Philip in the very early days of Ideas Genie.
Database 3
Next, we have the recipe for the success in that “Britains Best Back Gardens 2004” competition. Brian Denison’s plant list (422 plants), and a selection of photos.
The photos on the database
were used in a presentation Brian gave to the ladies section of the local Conservative Club. I converted this database for Brian, from Excel format.
Database 4
A Narcissus database. A one day photo shoot by “yours truly”, and an insight into the fascinating world of hybridising in the Nursery world. The Nursery of Ringhaddy Daffodils in Killinchy, N
Ireland, on the picture postcard shores of the Ards peninsula, Co Down.
You’ll find more info on Database 2, 3 and 4 in the SWAP Library section of this site
