Program Updates
Applicable to ALL Windows Versions, especially Windows XP Issue date 18^th Mar 2005

If you have never downloaded Program Updates before, please read all the information on this page.

You will learn about the screens you will encounter and the options you must select in the process.

You need an Internet connection to download Program Updates.
You do not need to have a license to access and download Program Updates. They are freely available to Evaluation users and to Purchased Copy users alike.

When you proceed to the Program Updates web page (see link at beginning of this page) you will select a program of your choice for downloading.
The Program Download Web Page will then appear for the selected Program.
You then click on a hyperlink (button with text) to initiate the Download.
All this is very straight forward and other than selecting a program for download, no decisions are required and no “options” decisions are necessary.
There is, however, one screen in the download process in which you are required to select the correct option.
Here’s what to expect, and what to do.

Immediately after you have clicked on the download button you have to choose an option. The actual screen (a dialog box) you will see is not the same on all computers.

You MAY get a screen that looks like this:

If you get this screen, click on the “Save” button. You must save the download in a temporary folder on your computer during the process (see below for more help)

INSTEAD of the above you may get a screen like this:.

If you get this screen, make sure you choose the option to “Save this program to disk”.

You will then get a Windows dialog box prompting you to select a folder to store the downloaded file.

Make a new folder, the name you give it is not important, provided you can find it again!!

Select the new folder, and Save the downloaded file to this location. The file will then download,
When downloading is complete, the dialog boxes will disappear.

The next stage is to extract the Ideas Genie file from the downloaded file and install it. Here’s how:

You must now use either “My Computer” or “Windows Explorer” to find the new folder and the downloaded file.
Simply Double click on the downloaded file. This will begin the extraction.
Follow the instructions. This will install the Ideas Genie file(s).
Only one thing to be SURE of. I have set the installer to the Ideas Genie default installation folder.
i.e. c:\program files\ideasforgardens\ifg_ig\
Change this setting ONLY IF REQUIRED, and ONLY in the event that YOU INSTALLED IDEAS GENIE IN AN ALTERNATIVE FOLDER IN THE ORIGINAL INSTALLATION PROCESS.

In the next screen you will get a prompt asking if you wish to overwrite the existing file in that folder.
Click “Yes”.

Job done!
