Ideas Genie – Restoring the
Skeleton Database Issue date 19th Sept 2002
This
section applies ONLY if you evaluating the system and do NOT have a Licence
Number to permit registration.
You
should complete all the tutorials in “Getting Started” before carrying out the
procedure described in this section.
Ideas
Genie evaluation has a restriction on the number of plants and a restriction to
the number of photos which you can include in your database. Once the
restricting number is reached you cannot add any more plants OR link to any
more photos.
Your
evaluation CD is supplied with two sets of database files. We want to give you
a fair indication of the powers of Ideas Genie, hence we exceed the limiting
numbers in the default database. We will refer to this as the “Mini Database”
We
have supplied an alternative database for you to experiment with when you are
ready to attempt to document your own garden or collection with your OWN
plants.
We
refer to this as the “Skeleton” database. It contains only a few plants. Most
of the plants in the Skeleton database have Divisions. Division classifications
are present in the skeleton database.
When
you use the skeleton database you will NOT be restricted until you have added
the restricting number of Plants or linked to the restricting number of Photos.
In this unrestricted period you have a fully functional system.
Restoring the Skeleton Database
Run
the option System > Restore Files > Restore Files from the menu.
At
time of preparing this document no tutorials are thought to be necessary to run
this program, since all the defaults are set.
Here’s the steps:-
1) Click
on the “Do test” button. Ides Genie checks to ensure the files you are about to
restore are

You will not be able to proceed unless the files are intact.
2) Click
on the “Step 3-Click Here” button
Screen
GA203S02 appears.
3) Click
on the “Do Restore” button
When
complete you will see a message indicating that your files have been restored.
4) Click
on the “Escape” button.
JOB
DONE!!
Having
done this you are ready to proceed to the section “More Recommended Tutorials”
but first, please read the additional notes below.

Other
Restrictions:
You
cannot change data sources using the pop-up seen on many “Action” program
screens. This restriction prevents you from selecting an alternative folder and
viewing “Swap” databases e.g. on CD.
Some
better news:-
You
can, of course, repeat one or all of the tutorials in Getting Started at any
time after carrying out the procedure described in this section, though you may
find plants referred to are missing. Use your own plants as substitutes.
You
can, if you wish, uninstall Ideas Genie, reinstall the system and begin all
over again at the “Getting Started” stage with the “Mini database”
